Valid reasons behind Denmark's tough immigration policies

Sir, Päivi Munter's otherwise precise portrait of Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Denmark's prime minister ("A most un-Danish Dane", February 11/12) did not go deep into the reasons for the more restrictive immigration policies introduced four years ago that are today supported by 80 per cent of Danish parliamentarians and 75 per cent of voters in opinion polls.
