Junk food has had its chips in school meals

Fizzy drinks, crisps and chocolate are to be banned from school lunches as part of measures announced on Friday to improve the nutritional quality of pupil meals.

The Department for Education said schools will have to reduce the amount of deep-fried foods served and offer two portions of fruit and vegetables with every meal starting in September.
