Melbourne merger falls apart

Mergers and acquisitions are the bread and butter of a business school education but at the University of Melbourne the plan to merge the business school with the department of economics has hit the rocks.

Following widespread unhappiness at the business school about the proposed merger with the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Economics and Commerce, MBS chairman Ron McNeilly withdrew the merger plan as it became clear that members would vote against the proposal at the next board meeting on October 7.
