Exam ability no key to Oxbridge

A school's exam performance is often a poor guide to the number of its pupils who go to the top universities, exclusive FT research has revealed.

Some schools, including Eton College and St Paul's Girls School, get at least double the number of students into Oxbridge than their exam results would appear to warrant, while other institutions failed to achieve the places their academic results promised.
