Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp appeared to be edging closer to a deal to acquire Dow Jones on Monday night after a frantic round of negotiations over measures to protect editorial independence at The Wall Street Journal newspaper in the event of a sale.

One person close to News Corp predicted an agreement on those could be announced as early as Tuesday, opening the way for discussions on price and other issues.
