Euronext-Liffe in e-trading test case

Euronext-Liffe, the derivatives exchange, will today face a former marketing employee in a challenge over who owns the patent rights to electronic trading inventions he devised while working at the exchange.

Intellectual property lawyers say the case raises issues over creative work done by staff in the course of their employment but not related to their formal duties, and is one of the first to test these in the Court of Appeal.
