At least 10 people were killed in an explosion on Beirut’s waterfront on Wednesday, including a Lebanese legislator from the ruling anti-Syrian coalition. The blast, which took place during rush hour in the mainly Muslim Manara district, is the bloodiest attack in the Lebanese capital in more than two years

The attack delivered a serious blow to Lebanon’s ruling coalition and occurred as a United Nations envoy warned of a significant military build-up by two pro-Syrian Palestinian groups, with rockets, personnel and other weapons being brought across the Syrian-Lebanese border in recent weeks.
