Israeli foreign minister faces Egypt snub

Israel’s new government was sworn in on Tuesday amid warnings that the country’s controversial new foreign minister would have to apologise to Egypt or risk being barred from visiting Israel’s most important Arab ally.

Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the far-right Yisrael Beiteinu party, sparked outrage in Cairo last year when he lashed out at Hosni Mubarak, telling Egypt’s president to “go to hell”.
