Marginalised by changing dynamics

When Ismail Haniyeh made his first overseas trip as Palestinian prime minister last month, it was no surprise that Egypt was the location of choice.

As leader of the Hamas-led government that has been ostracised by the western world, Mr Haniyeh is hardly flush with choices. And the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has long been top of Cairo's foreign policy agenda, driven by domestic, regional and national security issues.
