Proposed rules specifying how employers should enrol their workforce automatically to a pension scheme in 2012 remain bureaucratic, inflexible and in some parts unworkable, the National Association of Pension Funds warned on Sunday.
If the rules remain unchanged, they will increase the risk that employers with good pension schemes will close them down, enrolling employees instead in the less costly and less generous new system of personal pension accouns, it warned.
