Standard Life float price under the cosh

Standard Life is expectedto lower the price of its planned flotation - and therefore the forecast value of shares for its 2.4m members - when it publishes its prospectus on Thursday.

The life assurer estimated its market value at between £4.8bn and £5.5bn, based on a share price of between 240p and 290p, when members received its demutualisation proposals in April.
