Kofi Annan, the former United Nations secretary-general, emerged from crisis talks on Kenya on Friday having secured agreement from rival politicians on the formation of an independent audit of December’s flawed elections and an agenda for reform.
But negotiating teams representing President Mwai Kibaki and his rival Raila Odinga remain sharply at odds on whether and how to share power, and on the need for a re-run of presidential elections.
