Glaxo upgrade helps FTSE gain

A contrasting few days for London’s two leading blue-chip pharmaceutical stocks continued on Friday.

GlaxoSmithKline was a leading FTSE 100 riser for a second consecutive day while rival AstraZeneca once again slipped into the red. Since Thursday’s well-received quarterly figures, Glaxo shares have gained 5.7 per cent while Astra has slipped 4 per cent.
