Deaths rise as Mexico drug gangs return fire

On a dusty street in a poor district of Morelia in central Mexico, a group of people mourn a police officer killed by suspected drug-traffickers.

Some hug each other in disbelief. Others just stare at the ground or take it in turns to sip from a family-size bottle of Coca-Cola.
