WPP expects to defy downturn

WPP expects to defy “very tough” conditions in the global advertising and marketing industry in 2009 and increase revenues, Sir Martin Sorrell declared on Thursday.

As his group reported third quarter trading below expectations, the WPP chief executive said he would be “very surprised” if WPP revenues fell next year.
