Voters reject Schwarzenegger’s proposals

The supporting pillars of Arnold Schwarzenegger's platform for budget and political reform in California collapsed in Tuesday's special election, leaving the Republican governor isolated and vulnerable.

A resentful electorate, called to the polls for the third time in less than two years, rejected all four of the ballot measures he said were essential to repair the "broken" system in Sacramento.
