Overview: Optimism puts equities on positive track

Wall Street and Asian markets led the way for global stocks on Thursday, as optimism over an economic recovery in a loose monetary policy environment continued to underpin the markets.

US equities rallied sharply on Thursday afternoon to a new high for the year, accompanied by a big drop in Treasury bond yields, higher commodity prices and a weaker dollar.
