Slovene businesses are intent on spreading out across the former Yugoslavia and the rest of the Balkans. So it is only natural that the country’s banks are looking the same way: not north, not west – but south-east.
Nova Ljubljanska Banka, the country’s locally-owned banking giant, is further on in the process than most. It has a presence in most of the countries of the region. Marjan Kramar, president of NLB’s management board, says: “The strategy is to open in all countries of south-east Europe and the Balkans.”
