Overview: Mood still cautious despite break in gloom

Wall Street rose the most since the start of June and European stock markets also rebounded on Monday as investors responded to positive analyst comment on banks ahead of a batch of quarterly results from the sector.

But the aversion to risk that has characterised market action in recent weeks remained broadly in place, with commodity prices remaining under pressure and the Japanese yen rallying early.
