Top UK credit rating not in danger

UK government debt is rising more quickly than in any other major economy, but its top credit rating should not be in danger if the government increases its levels of debt reduction, according to a report on Friday by Fitch Ratings.

Fitch reaffirmed the triple-A rating on UK government debt and said that public debt is rising “extremely rapidly” but is projected to be no higher than in other large economies by the end of next year.
