Coke settles SEC probe into Japanese unit

Coca-Cola has agreed to settle an accounting probe by the US Securities and Exchange Commission into the drinks company's activities in Japan.

But the group still faces a furore today at its annual general meeting over alleged labour rights violations at its operations in Colombia. The SEC said its inquiries had covered charges that Coca-Cola had asked Japanese bottlers to buy extra cola concentrate to boost revenues, allowing the Atlanta-based company to meet profit targets.
