EU manufacturing recovery gathers pace

Eurozone manufacturing grew at the fastest rate for more than five years last month – in contrast to the UK, which saw a clear deceleration, according to data on Monday.

The upbeat picture shown by eurozone manufacturing purchasing managers’ indices, which suggested that the recovery was feeding through into the jobs market, added to the case for an early increase in European Central Bank interest rates.
