Montenegro’s independence vote too close to call

Days before citizens of Montenegro, the last ex-Yugoslav republic still joined to Serbia, vote to decide on whether to dissolve the loose union, the European Union’s envoy says that negotiations will be needed to finalise the detailed political outcome no matter what the result.

Voters will decide on Sunday whether they want the small mountainous republic to become an independent state, a step secessionist leaders say would bring better living standards and faster integration with the EU.
