Limited liability: Ignominious end for a great idea

One of the longest running sagas in accountancy looks to be coming to a pretty ignominious end.

For years accounting firms have sought to limit their liability. Reports have been commissioned. Investors, politicians and companies have been lobbied. It has been one of the most tortuous of processes. Legislation is now on the statute book that allows firms to limit their liability, client by client, through assent by shareholders at the annual general meeting.
