Silversmith seeks to stay ahead of market

For someone who hated metalwork at school, Richard Fox has done well as a silversmith.

Recipients of his work include Pope Benedict XVI, who was given a silver, amethyst-inlaid pectoral cross commissioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, who won the trophy he designed and made. Desmond Tutu, the South African Nobel Peace laureate, received a silver wafer box encrusted with semi-precious stones designed by Mr Fox and commissioned by the previous Archbishop, George Carey.
