Overview: Weak US data keep mood cautious

Equity markets showed tentative signs of stabilising on Wednesday and government bonds retreated, although the havens of gold and the dollar remained well supported as the underlying mood among investors remained very nervous.

Concerns about the outlook for the US economy were heightened by weak industrial production and housing market data.
