Carved-up consumers urged to shop around

Store card holders are being urged to switch services or transfer their balances elsewhere after an official inquiry this week confirmed that millions of consumers were overpaying for retail credit.

Department stores and clothing retailers often entice their customers to sign up to store card deals with introductory discounts of up to 10 per cent on initial purchases and interest-free periods of up to three months.
