Target, the US discount chain, on Tuesday said it would open 27 new stores in 15 states on Sunday, in what may be one of the last simultaneous retail launches for several years.

The mass openings will add an additional three million square feet, expanding Target’s network to 1,699 stores and creating more than 3,000 jobs.
