Ceramic Fuel Cells will commence volume production of domestic combined heat and power (CHP) units in 2009 after winning an order for 50,000 units worth £75m to £100m over five years from Nuon, the Dutch energy company.

The company will meet the demand by building a €12.4m (£9.3m) plant in Germany to manufacture up to 160,000 units a year.
