Alliance Boots, the health and beauty group bought last year by KKR for £11.1bn, has emerged as one of the Christmas winners as the UK retail division led strong sales growth.

Like-for-like sales in the three months to December 31 are understood to have risen by 4.8 per cent in the retail division and 6.9 per cent, excluding dispensary, in the UK stores.
