US overseas student applications slow

The growth in the number of foreign students applying to American graduate schools slowed considerably this year, underscoring concerns that the US is losing its status as the premier destination for academia.

According to a survey that will be released today, applications from international graduate students increased only 3 per cent from 2007 to 2008, following growth of 9 per cent last year and 12 per cent in 2006.
