Europeans warm to candidate’s message

Barack Obama appeared on course on Friday night to achieve his goal of leaving a positive impression in Europe and bolstering his bid to enter the White House, in spite of some questions over the substance behind his message to European countries.

The US Democratic presidential candidate held talks on Friday evening in Paris with Nicolas Sarkozy, France’s president, following a visit to Berlin, where more than 200,000 people gathered in a park to hear him speak on Thursday.
