UK trade gap narrows as oil exports jump

Increased output from the North Sea helped shrink the UK’s trade deficit to its narrowest in 20 months in June, data released on Thursday showed.

With the Buzzard oil field now fully operational, the nation’s oil account recorded a surplus of £257m, compared with a deficit of £76m in May.
