Italy’s ruling centre-right coalition sought on Tuesday to patch up a potentially damaging internal dispute as the centre-left opposition scented victory in the April 9-10 general election.
“I don’t want to lose time arguing with Berlusconi,” said Pier Ferdinando Casini, a Christian Democrat who is one of the centre-right’s three most prominent leaders, and who was the unexpected target of criticism on Monday from Silvio Berlusconi, prime minister.
