Northern Rock trade picks up

Trading at Northern Rock picked up in the third quarter as the state-owned bank accelerated mortgage lending and saw an improvement in arrears.

The bank, which was last week given formal approval to split and sell its “good” assets, said the restructuring was on track and should be completed by the end of this year.
