The reconstruction of Indonesia’s tsunami- and conflict-ravaged Aceh province is facing a shortfall of at least $1.47bn (£725m, €1.1bn) over the next two years after a reassessment of housing needs, the government agency in charge of rebuilding the region said on Monday.
The central government has promised to fund just over half the shortfall from its 2008 and 2009 budgets, but analysts are sceptical about how the rest of the money will be raised.
