Carpetright warns no recovery until 2010

Carpetright warned on profits as the UK’s biggest flooring retailer suffered a precipitous fall in demand for its products and slashed the interim dividend.

Lord Harris, chairman, on Tuesday said the trading conditions were unprecedented in his half-century of experience in retailing but offered a crumb of comfort to investors, saying the full-year dividend might not fall by as much as the interim.
