Proposed trading caps anger bankers

The Obama administration’s proposal to bar proprietary trading by Wall Street banks follows a separate proposal by the chief US commodity regulator that would have the same effect in energy markets.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s plan to limit oil and gas speculation was initially seen as lenient when released for public comment last week. But bankers reading the fine print fear it will put their proprietary oil and gas trading in jeopardy.
