Private sector fears that the Blairite agenda of choice, competition and greater use of their services is “on the wane” appear to have been confirmed in the comprehensive spending review.
The document contains a chunky chapter on “transforming public services”, but while it makes a brief mention of providing “new opportunities for people to exercise choice in how to access and tailor their services”, there are no references to competition or use of the private sector.
