Obama ready to ‘put pressure’ on Big Three

Barack Obama, US president-elect, said on Sunday that his administration would seek to restructure the vehicle industry by simulating the effects of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection while providing government aid to keep it functioning.

His comments came as Senator Chris Dodd, one of the key Democrats crafting an emergency rescue package, called on Rick Wagoner, General Motor’s chief executive, to “move on” and resign from the company as a condition of aid.
