Arab-Israeli conflict to be early priority

Barack Obama on Wednesday called four leaders in the Middle East, in a move intended to signal that his administration would make the Arab-Israeli conflict a priority from the very start.

But in remarks that highlighted the gulf between Israeli and world perceptions of Mr Obama, a senior Israeli minister urged his countrymen not to “fear” the new president. Some Israelis are concerned the new team may prove less supportive than George W. Bush.
