Nova Gorica: Border town bets on thriving nightlife

The square in front of Nova Gorica station is open and invites a stroll, but should unwary travellers cross the road to the neat houses on the other side, they risk arrest – at least for a few days yet.

For the commission which drew up the borders after the second world war, placed the station and half the square in the-then Yugoslavia, but the regional capital it was built to serve – today’s Gorizia – in Italy.
