Plans for Europe’s largest gas storage facility have been given the go-ahead by a consortium including EBN of the Netherlands and Taqa of Abu Dhabi, supported by Gazprom, the state-controlled Russian gas export monopoly.

The €800m ($1.2bn, £722m) Bergermeer facility in the Netherlands will have a capacity of 4.1bn cubic metres, enough to supply the whole of Dutch demand for more than five weeks.
