Olmert hits back on graft investigation

The battle between Ehud Olmert and Israel’s police and prosecutors sharpened over the weekend, with one of the prime minister’s lawyers accusing the authorities of trying to “ruin” the country’s elected leader.

Mr Olmert described the latest allegations in the widening corruption probe against him as “distorted”, and accused police and prosecutors of “a grave breach of acceptable norms”.
