Pfizer reports small rise in profits

Pfizer, the world’s biggest drugmaker, on Wednesday capped a rocky year of change and rebuilding by reporting only a slight increase in operating profits.

Last year’s profits, excluding restructuring charges and other items, rose only 2 per cent due to weakening sales in its biggest-selling drug Lipitor, for cholesterol, and generic competition for Norvasc, a heart drug.
