Cartel investigators close in on airlines

European regulators on Friday began formal antitrust proceedings against airlines, including British Airways, Air France-KLM and Japan Airlines over an alleged price-fixing cartel.

Several of the world’s leading carriers including BA, Korean Air and Qantas have admitted criminal guilt in a parallel investigation by the US justice department into air cargo price fixing and paid heavy fines.
