Visitor’s guide: A country of many colours – not colors

Contrary to foreigners’ conventional wisdom, visiting and doing business in Canada is not the same as the US. What’s more, customs and practices in French-speaking Montreal can be quite different from Toronto or Vancouver.

For starters, visitors would do well to remember that Canada has provinces (10) and territories (three), not states. Canadians spell “colour” and “centre” the British way, but “organization” and “program” as their southern neighbours do.
