Labs face push to gauge animal pain

Researchers would have to record the level of suffering by laboratory animals in their experiments under a reform of animal licensing procedures proposed on Wednesday by government advisers.

The proposals by the Home Office’s animal procedures committee would be the biggest change in regulations since the 1986 Animals Act took effect.
