Concerns temper positive Asian jobs data

Unexpected falls in the jobless rate in several Asian countries have raised hopes that the region may have turned the corner on joblessness.

Japan on Friday surprised economists by reporting that its unemployment rate in September had fallen to 5.3 per cent from August’s 5.5 per cent, even though it had been expected to rise.
