Steam goes out of billion-dollar public offerings

Initial public offerings raising a billion dollars or more have been so frequent this year they have become almost commonplace.

A record-breaking 31 companies have passed the billion-dollar benchmark so far this year. But there are doubts about whether the rest of the year will be as exuberant - even though equity markets have posted remarkable performances amid the market turmoil.
